Follow Canon Rumors: CanonRumors.com Twitter Facebook Instagram Spotlight on the Fuji GFX 100: This is Joey's most anticipated camera of the year. If you like shooting with the 50S you're gonna love the GFX 100. 100 megapixels is "insane resolution" and the in-body stabilization to support the raised resolution is a game changer. It's a lot larger and a little top-heavy but can use a lot of the existing accessories like the tilt adapter if you like to waist level shoot. How Lensrentals Uses 3D Printing

E

We used to dream of all the things we could and should 3D print and today we're actually making them! Kris Steward joins Roger Cicala to discuss how a 3D printer he bought from Kickstarter lead to a room full of printers here at Lensrentals. He tells us the items he's making, from beefing up battery doors to figuring out workarounds and bringing new items for Lensrentals into existence. It started with making our own gaskets and we're currently printing 67 unique items. They range from things for products we couldn't source for repair purposes, we'd make to ensure the product you rented was as close to how it would be if you bought it. Gear mentioned in this episode: Printers: Prusa Mk 3S Prusa Mk 3S MMU 2.0 Materials: PETG, (polyethylene terephthalate) Which has a high melt point so it's high enough we can ship it and it won't deform. Software: Kris recommends using a parametric based CAD software TinkerCad is free and what Kris started with Fusion360 is where Kris has settled and what he uses currently To get started yourself on a less immersive level: Check your cities local maker spaces if you're looking to get something 3D printed for the first time. 3Dhubs is based out of Chicago and professionally prints for you Shapeways 3D prints professionally and ships out of Europe Spotlight on the Panasonic S1 Joey loves that the tech previously available in only M4/3 is now available to use in a full-frame camera. It's a big beefy camera which feels great in hand Buttons are all laid out smartly EVF is nice and clear and bright Inbody stabilization is everything you've come to expect from Panasonic and works incredibly well. Joey can handhold shots down to 1/4 a second. AF and tracking work really well and better than the SL1 Important to tweak it to your style of shooting before heading out into the field, which is easy to do With the advent of the L-mount, there will be more lenses, such a the Sigma Art and Leica L mount and M-mount too! How Indie Film Lab Keeps Film Alive

E

Josh Moates, founder of Indie Film Lab talks with Joey Miller and Sarah McAlexander about getting started with film, printing your work, film's future, and more. Josh believes film has soul and that no digital preset can do what film can. He started Indie Film Lab because he believes the revival of film is strong and understands that when you shoot film, it can be hard to find a lab that processes your work the way you want them to. Finding the right lab is like finding a partner to help you accomplish your vision. As Josh began experimenting in processing his own film other people noticed the quality of his work, loved how it looked and kept asking if he'd process theirs as well. How to Shoot Your First Wedding

E

Joey Miller, Senior Photo Technician joins Roger Cicala, Lensrentals founder to discuss wedding photography. Episode highlights: Second shooting is a great entry point to see if wedding photography is for you. Second shoot for multiple photographers so you are exposed to several different styles and preferences. Negotiating your duties as a second shooter and what you'll be expected to cover, especially during the reception, are also very important details to work out ahead of time, along with, of course, your fee. Gear: all-important gear questions! ALL current DSLR bodies and mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras will do just fine for 90% of weddings. From a traditional DSLR body to Sony, Canon, and Nikon mirrorless, Joey reminds us that photographers used to manually focus the bride walking down the aisle before autofocus. Always have at least 2 cameras and have backups, backups, backups, as Joey reminds us as he shares his own data loss horror story. A good walk through the ceremony venue is essential for figuring out your gear and the lighting situation you'll need to be aware of.-Learn lighting and get very good at it, even if you are a "natural light photographer". Getting the flash off camera is the next step after bouncing with a strobe and on camera flash, no one is a fan of a flash in the face while dancing!
