Show Notes

On the latest episode of The Left Wing, Will Slattery is joined by Tony Ward and Des Berry for a schools rugby preview.

Tony has complied a bumper schools rugby supplement that is available in Saturday’s Irish Independent, and he previews the Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster competitions.

Can anyone stop St Michael’s in Leinster? Tony is calling them the school’s ‘Dream Team’ as they return 13 players from last year’s cup-winning side.

Blackrock are set to be their main challengers while the lads think that Gonzaga will give them a good game in round one after reaching their first final last year.

As well as the familiar teams, there has also been the emergence of new schools across the country, such as Temple Carraig in Leinster, CBS Roscommon in Connacht and Bantry in the Munster Junior Cup.
Tony also discusses catching up with old Ireland rival Ollie Campbell for the supplement, with Campbell looking back on his illustrious schools career with Belvedere.
