Mark Edmondson went into the 1976 Australian Open 21 years old and ranked 212th in the world, two weeks later he was crowned a grand slam champion.
Edmondson remains the last Australian male to win the fabled tournament and his record of the lowest-ranked player to win any grand slam remains to this day.
