Just a few short years ago, in 1999, he was living on the streets—homeless and unemployable. Addicted to crystal meth and crack cocaine, he was living the criminal lifestyle, performing fraudulent schemes, shoplifting and stealing to provide for his drug habit. He had no job, no driver’s license, no car, no place to call home, no credit, two probation officers, and over $60,000 in traffic fines, restitution, and back taxes owed to the IRS. Claudia has never done drugs, but she lived the homeless lifestyle with Rob because she was addicted to Rob. She was told by many well-meaning friends, her parents, and even Rob’s parents, to run away and don’t look back, because Rob would never change. She believed they were wrong. At the direction of one of his probation officers, Rob admitted himself into a 30-day drug rehab. By the Grace of God, he has been sober ever since that day! In four short years, while still on probation in two separate matters, he got his driver’s license back, paid all fines and restitution he owed, bought their first home, and bought their first business! Today they are now engaged in many businesses and Rob has now dedicated his life to helping other people grow to the next level, and achieve the impossible as well. Rob Rowsell has authored a book- 'Addicted to Life'! that describes how he went from homeless to extraordinary success and happiness in a short period of time. On this episode, Julia and Gino interview Father Leo Patalinghug. Born in the Philippines and raised in the Baltimore area, Fr. Leo actually developed his love for cooking while attending the seminary at the North American College in Rome. There, he became friendly with several Italian restaurant owners and would often invite them back to the student kitchen to trade cooking secrets. They would teach him about rigatoni and lasagna; he would show them how to make hamburgers and ribs. Today, he is a skilled cook who still enjoys learning how to make new dishes, and loves the process of preparing a meal, as much as he does sharing it with a table full of friends. Fr. Leo is the host and founder of Grace Before Meals, an apostolate to strengthen families and communities around the dinner table. He is a priest ordained for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, serving as a sacramental and pastoral minister on a part-time basis. This week, Julia and Gino talk with Adam Mitchell. Adam is dad to four kids. He has been teaching families the skills of personal protection for over 20 years at his school in New York. In 2006, he recognized a specific need that most men yearned for as Dads, but didn’t have the access or understanding to the type of training they needed to truly keep their families safe under any circumstance.
