A few weeks ago, Pastor David Marvin taught an incredible lesson from the Word of God looking at the fifth commandment, honoring your father and mother. I was able to sit down and have an incredible conversation with Pastor Marvin about the practical aspects of living out this commandment, especially when it comes to older parents and the different relationships that we, as parents ourselves, have with our parents.

Pastor Marvin shared some powerful truths about learning to respect the position of authority that God has established even if the performance of your parents was not the best. We talked about the importance of seeking forgiveness and what that truly entails, which can be filled with many obstacles.

Our God is a just and merciful God who desires for us to honor our parents and that commandment should be taken to heart and lived out for others to see. When we trust God, He can do amazing things in the lives of our families.
