The Jordan School District’s Teaching & Learning department is proud to produce the Jordan Journey podcast. The Jordan Journey is a monthly education podcast featuring teacher stories from across the Jordan School District in Utah. While many students have access to devices, the way they use them varies wildly. Are they just clicking through digital worksheets, or are they using technology to build something new? We take a deep dive into the Jordan Innovation Lab to see how educators are closing this gap by moving students from passive consumers to active creators.
Over of the course of this episode, we discuss some of the following questions:
- When students are analyzing, building, and producing, traditional grading can be tricky. How do you assess the process of active digital use? What are you looking for in a student's project that signals they have mastered the concept?
- Not every classroom has a chomp saw or a bank of 3D printers. What mindset or strategies from the Jordan Innovation Lab can regular classroom teachers 'steal' to help close the Digital Use Divide in their own rooms, even if they only have Chromebooks? How would you describe the STEM mindset?
- What is your "elevator pitch" to teachers who don't know what the lab is?
Don’t forget to listen to our 🏁🏎️💨 “Pitstop” 🏁🏎️💨 segment where we shout-out something awesome happening in Jordan School District.
