The Jill Bennett Show · CKNW / Curiouscast
Show Notes
Cheryl Martin is a Canadian citizen (from Victoria) currently residing in the US.
On February 26th, 2018 she purchased a resort cottage in Parksville, BC to use when she travels home to visit family twice a year. The cottage she purchased is in a strata complex and the City of Parksville Zoning bylaw limits the stay to 180 days, concurrent or non-consecutive, within one calendar year.
They plan to rent the cottage out when we are not in town. She says when they do visit, for months at a time, they contribute to the economy by renting cars, buying groceries, eating at restaurants and other activities and so would people who rent the cottage. She says she will be paying federal income tax on rental income.
Cheryl, is not a speculator.
