Federal government introducing new legislation to reform Canada's bail system

The federal government has introduced new legislation to reform Canada's bail system. It comes after months of calls for tougher laws from the provinces and territories, as well as opposition parties and police. The bill would also add certain firearms offences to existing reverse-onus provisions, and expand those provisions for offences involving intimate partner violence.
