Coffee, Minimum Wages & Business Backlash

There was major backlash when the Ontario Provincial Government raised the minimum wage which caused some Tim Horton's Franchisee's to cancel benefits and change their business models that affected their workers.  With BC looking to raise the minimum wage, could the same thing happen here?
