075: The Handwritten Life: Journals, Poetry, and Paying Attention with Margaux Kent

Today I’m talking with artist, writer, photographer, storyteller, mother, and co-founder of Peg and Awl, Margaux Kent, whose life and work are rooted in curiosity, handmade practice, rhythms, and nature. Margaux shares how journaling has been a lifelong touchstone for her creativity, and how she and Walter built their business by following their own needs and curiosities rather than a traditional plan. She talks about co-creating Peg and Awl with her husband, the pivots and seasons of their business, and the intentional shrinking that allowed them to return to a slower, truer way of living. She also reflects on raising sons who know creativity as a natural part of daily life, the freedom and connection found in homeschooling, and what it looks like to protect time for personal creativity in the midst of running a thriving business and raising a family. This is a conversation about slowing down, being present, and building a life shaped by what feels honest and beautiful.
