We celebrate the 393rd Jayanti of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj today. Sanjay Dixit challenges those Panchmakkars who have been trying to portray Raje Shivaji not as 'Haindava Dharmoddharaka' but merely as a social reformer or secular ruler.He proves from contemporary accounts that he understood the Muslim mind, and therefore proceeded to establish a Hindu Pad Padshahi and even carried out Ghar Wapasi of forcibly converted Hindus, such as Netaji Palkar and Bajaji Rao Naik Nimbalkar. He knew that survival could be ensured only through expansion.
