There is no end to political violence in West Bengal, latest being Birbhum Violence. Probes in the post-poll violence of 2021 could be ordered only after months of protracted court battles, and PM and HM did not utter a word of sympathy. However, there is one big difference this time. Since the victims of the gory violence were Muslims, the PM found time to condemn it, Mamata didi found time to visit the site, and Leftist media found time to express concern. Sanjay Dixit explains.
