As Santishree D Pandit became the first JNU alumnus to become its vice-chancellor, it was reported that there was a lot of disaffection among a section of students. Various reasons were attributed, one of them being that some old students found it an affront to be students unser an erstwhile classmate, and the other of course being that the Left has the exclusive right to appoint anyone in the Republic of JNU. 2 JNU alumni, Prof M Rajivlochan, HOD of History deptt.
