ICHR excluded 387 Moplahs' names as freedom fighters. The supreme irony of these fanatical murderers having been termed as freedom fighters of the Khilafat movement and the movement being described as an agrarian movement. This Talibani movement was part of an equally fanatical movement called the Khilafat movement. Sanjay Dixit traces the Moplah killings and similar Talibani movements like the Aligarh, Pakistan and Kashmir movements. 20th August 1921 was the outbreak of Moplah riots.
