The entire edifice of prohibition of child marriages is stuck in a legislative quagmire. Prohibition Act lacks teeth, has a gaping hole. Similarly, the Rajasthan Act for Registration of Marriages has a similar hole. The debate should focus on making the laws effective, rather than having them just for form's sake.
