There is a big buzz in the 'Liberal' media about resumption of talks with Pakistan. However, PM Modi has once again emphasised in his letter to the Pakistan PM that talks and terror cannot go together. So where does that leave Pakistan? We know that Pakistan is not a power to be trusted. It follows the Treaty of Hudaibiyah logic, i.e. do a treaty if weak, and be ruthless when strong. This is the logic that seems to be driving Pakistan who would like to keep the frictions low when it is grappling with a poor economy and a strong India under Modi.
