There used to be a time when Pakistan was considered a pastmaster at spinning narratives in the quest of its permanent interests, one of which was to keep the Kashmir issue permanently on the boil. The other was to pretend to act as the spokesman of Islamic interests. Over the past few weeks, we have seen their diplomats, and surprisingly, even their military establishment, act all confused over the two issues. Whether navigating the tightrope between Turkey and Saudi Arabia, or flip-flop on the Kashmir issue between scaling back of 370 and normalising relations to the gaffes on the Palestine issue - all of them point to its practised doublespeak becoming a speak of many dimensions - 3, 4 or many more.
