Recounting the harrowing tales of Direct Action Day of 16th August 1946, Sanjay Dixit finds likeness among the political characters of the day. He also exhorts Bengalis to remember the glorious days of Anushilan Samiti, Bagha Jatin's words "Ami Morbo, Jaat jagbe", the heroic attempts of Prafulla Chaki and Khudiram Bose, Rash Behari Bose, Subash Chandra Bose, Sur Sen and the like. It is time for Bengalis to remember Gopal Patha whose spirit of resilience single handedly defeated the Muslim League, and exacted a terrible revenge with his slogan 'ten for one'. Bengalis need to remember that spirit and confront the tyrants themselves.
