Show Notes

Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Illinois Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, step outside right now and you'll feel winter doing its thing. Sharp air, bright sky, and here's the deal. Northern Illinois is shivering in the low 30s while Central Illinois sits comfortably in the upper 30s. Chicagoland splits the difference at 34 degrees. Classic Illinois temperature divide. Now the wind is where it gets interesting. Up north, you're dealing with a steady 10 to 15 miles an hour breeze. That's the kind that sneaks right through your jacket zipper. Drive south into Central Illinois and it's gustier. Northwest wind at 13 miles an hour pushing clouds out like a bouncer at closing time. Chicago's lighter 10 miles an hour wind has less bite. But don't get cocky. Winter's still got receipts. Tonight, temperatures dip into the 20s statewide. Quiet and cold under mostly clear skies. Nothing dramatic. Just February being February. Sunday brings a nice little warm up though. Upper 30s up north, low 40s central, and Chicago might even flirt with the mid 40s. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. We're on a slow climb toward something that actually feels pleasant. By midweek, parts of Central Illinois could touch 50 degrees. No big storms lurking. Just a steady march toward spring's first whispers. And we're gaining daylight fast. Almost 3 extra minutes of sun today alone. Sunrise at 6:32 A.M., sunset at 5:20 P.M. You'll want to soak that up. One more thing. If you're enjoying these daily updates, share us with a friend. Word of mouth keeps this going and we appreciate every single listener. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there, folks!
