Show Notes

Aired March 24, 2024: Lisa Foxx talks to Thuy Pham, the Senior Benefits Advisor with the U.S. Department of Labor (LA Regional office in Pasadena). She wanted to let folks know about the free services they offer and talk about a variety of laws and benefits that may be of interest.

The Employee Benefits Security Administration is a small but mighty agency under the US Department of Labor. The last fiscal year, their agency recovered over 1 BILLION in benefits for workers in America. 1 BILLION! They oversee approximately 2.8 million health plans, 765,000 private pension plans which cover 153 million workers, their dependents, and retirees.  They ensure that the plans follow the law. They also provide free assistance to participants experiencing problems. Thuy discusses everything from the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, the COBRA law, HIPAA, the Affordable Care Act, the No Surprise Act, retirement/401K's and so much more. If you think you’re seeing problems in your health plan related to your mental health and substance use disorder benefits, or are having any other employee/employer related health/retirement plan issues, please call their toll-free number (1-866-444-3272) or file an inquiry online at askebsa.dol.gov.
