Ep 54Ep54: Creating a Writing Schedule That Fits Your Busy Life—And Sticking to It

In this episode, learn the secret behind writing your book without feeling overwhelmed by the busyness of life. Whether you're an entrepreneur, a coach, or a busy mom, you’ll learn how to fit writing into your schedule, even if it seems impossible right now.Key Takeaways:Step 1: Mindset Shift – It’s about prioritizing your writing, not waiting to find time. Writing doesn’t magically happen; you make it happen.Step 2: Be Realistic – Create a schedule that fits your actual life, not an ideal version of it. Don’t set unrealistic goals like writing for hours when you know you don’t have that time.Step 3: Break It Down – Tackle your book in small, manageable goals. Focus on sections, not the entire manuscript at once.Step 4: Find Your Routine – Some people thrive on structure; others prefer flexibility. Find what works for you and stick to it.Step 5: Eliminate Distractions – Don't wait for the perfect distraction-free moment. Instead, work with the environment you have.Step 6: Stick to Your Routine, But Stay Flexible – Life happens, and that’s okay. Just get back to writing when you can and stay consistent.Special Mentions:My journey writing Six Pillars of a Rewarding Life and how I struggled with momentum. How I finished Evolve Your Skills and Publish to Impact in just 6 months by creating a realistic writing schedule. The importance of repurposing your writing for content in your business—writing your book can save time!Join the Waitlist for 'Idea to Impact'If you’re ready to get your book written and published in 6 months, join the Idea to Impact waitlist. Episode Title: Exclusive vs. Wide Publishing: Navigating Amazon KDPEpisode Summary:I'm returning after an enjoyable weekend in Southwest Western Australia, where my fiancè and I visited our wedding venue with the family! In today's episode, I'm getting into the publishing process, with a focus on Amazon's KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) and Ebooks. This episode is all about the options available to you when you publish your book. There's two simple options: Do you want to be exclusive (to Amazon)? Or go wide (be able to sell your ebook inside and outside of Amazon). There are pros and cons for both and today's episode will help you decide which option to choose when you publish your book! Exclusive vs. Wide Distribution:Exclusive: Publishing exclusively with Amazon via the KDP Select program.Benefits:Earn royalties based on pages read.Reach a broader audience through Kindle Unlimited.Drawbacks:Limited distribution to only Amazon.Tied to a 90-day exclusivity period.Potential market saturation.Reliance solely on Amazon, which can be risky if issues arise.Wide: Distributing your e-book across multiple platforms.BenefitsDiversify income streams.Reduced dependency on Amazon.Ability to use your book as a lead generation tool.Drawbacks:Complex management and bookkeeping.Different payment schedules across platforms.Difficult to gain traction without an existing audience.Book Goals and Strategy:Importance of aligning your distribution strategy with your book goals.Testing both exclusive and wide options to determine the best fit for your needs.ISBNs for Paperback Books:Options for acquiring an ISBN:Purchase your own ISBN for flexibility.Use Amazon’s KDP assigned ISBN for exclusivity to Amazon. Not using an ISBN.It's essential to consider your long-term goals and test different strategies to see what works best for you. Remember, the key is to align your publishing approach with your specific goals and be patient with the results.Mentioned in this episode:Idea To Outline WorkshopIdea To Outline Workshop

Welcome back to another episode of The Publish To Impact Podcast. In this episode, we delve into the intricacies of the fourth month leading up to the launch of my book. If you're just tuning in, be sure to catch up on previous episodes for a breakdown of the writing, publishing, and launching journey ofer the last few months. Here's what weeks 13-16 looked likeWeek 13: Setting the Stage:Officially set the launch date for January 30, 2024, and communicated it to my email list.Opted not to form a launch team because I was simultaneously releasing a podcast release but always encourage first time others to create one.Started preparing podcast episodes for release alongside the book, building anticipation among my audience.Week 14: Formatting:Initiated book formatting using preferred software, ensuring visual appeal and readability.I'd reccomend outsourcing formatting for authors lacking necessary tools or expertise.Week 15: Uploading and Preparing:Downloaded formatted copies and prepared to upload them to the Amazon dashboard.Uploaded separate files for paperback and Kindle versions, following Amazon's guidelines.Selected pricing and ordered proof copies for quality assurance before the official launch.Week 16: Final Touches and Feedback:Received proof copies within 5-7 days, utilised them for proofreading and quality checks.Made minor adjustments, such as adding logo initials to the spineReviewed the book for any last-minute changes and sought feedback We're so close to launching Publish To Impact. Ep 19Ep19: How To Write A Powerful Introduction For Your Nonfiction Book

In today's episode, we delve into the critical element of non-fiction book writing: the introduction. Just as the saying goes, "the first impression is the best impression," your book's introduction serves as the gateway to a powerful reading experience. It's where you grab your reader's attention, set expectations, and pave the way for an impactful journey through your book's content. In this episode, you'll find out how to apply the following ten steps when it comes to mastering the intro for your book.Step 1: Begin with a HookYour introduction's opening sentence is your chance to hook your reader. Whether it's a surprising fact, a thought-provoking question, or a compelling anecdote, aim to captivate your audience from the very first words. For example, in my book "The Six Pillars of a Rewarding Life," I opened with a reflection on memories to draw readers in.Step 2: Establish RelevanceAfter hooking your readers, emphasise why your topic matters. Address potential questions and connect your topic to real-world scenarios to make it relatable and significant. This helps readers understand why they should care about what you have to say.Step 3: State Your PurposeClearly articulate the main argument or purpose of your book. Use this as a roadmap for what readers can expect to learn and discover throughout your book. Providing a clear purpose helps establish the value of your book to your audience.Step 4: Build IntrigueCreate curiosity and mystery to keep readers engaged. Tease ideas and concepts that you'll explore further in the book, encouraging readers to continue reading to find the answers they seek.Step 5: Showcase Your AuthorityEstablish your credibility early on by sharing relevant qualifications, experiences, or reasons why you're a credible source on the subject. This builds trust and confidence in your expertise.Step 6: Set the ToneMatch the tone of your introduction with the overall tone of your book. Whether it's conversational, humorous, or authoritative, maintain consistency to create a seamless reading experience.Step 7: Be ConciseAvoid overwhelming readers with unnecessary details. Keep your introduction clear and concise, focusing on what's essential to maintain readers' attention.Step 8: Bring Up SubtopicsProvide a preview of the subtopics or chapters you'll cover in your book. This helps readers understand the structure of your book and anticipate what's to come.Step 9: Paint a PictureUse descriptive language to create vivid imagery that allows readers to visualise your topic. Paint a mental picture that immerses readers in your content and enhances their reading experience.Step 10: Revise and RefineOnce you've completed your manuscript, revisit your introduction to revise and refine it. Ensure it aligns with the content of your book and effectively sets the stage for what's to come________________I love hearing from you and helping you make an impact with your book. Ep 13Ep13: How To Overcome Imposter Syndrome When Writing Your Book

Imposter syndrome is a common struggle that many of us face, especially when it comes to writing a book. In this episode, we'll explore what imposter syndrome is, how it shows up when writing a book, and most importantly, strategies to overcome it. Acknowledge Your Achievements. Take a moment to reflect on how far you've come. Celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem. Recognise the dedication and hard work you've invested in your writing journey.Practice Self-Compassion. Be gentle with yourself. Understand that stumbling is a part of the process. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer a client or friend.Challenge Negative Thoughts. When imposter syndrome rears its head, question its validity. Are these thoughts based on facts or feelings? You'll often find that your fears are unfounded, and you're far more capable than you give yourself credit for.Surround Yourself with Support. Seek out a community of fellow writers who understand your struggles. Share your experiences, seek advice, and offer encouragement to one another. Together, you can navigate the challenges of imposter syndrome.Choose Action over Fear. Don't wait for imposter syndrome to dissipate before you begin writing. Take that first step, no matter how daunting it may seem. The more you write, the more confident you'll become in your abilities.Focus on Impact, Not Perfection. Remember, your book doesn't have to be flawless. Instead, concentrate on the impact you wish to make with your words. Embrace the messy, imperfect nature of the writing process, trusting that your message will resonate with your audience.________________I love hearing from you and helping you make an impact with your book. Ep 9Ep09: How To Map Out Your Book Idea And Create An Awesome Outline

I'll always say that every step in the book writing process is important. But mind mapping your book is essential in gaining clarity in your book idea. In today's episode, we dive into the four steps you need to take to effectively mind map your book idea. Step 1: Gain clarity. What is your book about and what's the message you're trying to send?Step 2: Structure your ideas. How will you organise your book. Will you include sections, end of chapter exercises or interviews throughout?Step 3: Solving your readers' problems. Writing down key points on solving your readers problem is an important step in preparing to write your manuscript. Step 4: Writing a draft conclusion. Think about where your reader will end up and write a conclusion based on that. When you come back to it at the end of your manuscript, you'll realise how far you've come in the book writing process and be confident to rewrite your conclusion to make it as powerful as can be. Research materials. Knowing what research you'll be using to support your book prior to writing it is a key part in writing an effective manuscript. Preparing all your materials prior is a great way to write your book efficiently. ________________I love hearing from you and helping you make an impact with your book.
