Hoosier Hysterics! - UWE BLAB

While each former player has a unique perspective on their time in candy stripes, none so extraordinarily so as Uwe Blab. Born and raised in Germany, where basketball wasn’t a thing and his towering frame led to ridicule, he discovered community and acceptance upon moving to Illinois and playing high school hoops. Heavily recruited as senior, Uwe finally committed to IU and the legendary Bob Knight… having no idea who Bob Knight was. He soon found out, and was likewise initiated into the rivalry with Kentucky and Purdue, and the debauchery that is the Little 500. Learn all about this beloved Hoosier, including just how thoughtful, funny and kind Uwe Blab truly is. Hoosier Hysterics! - LANDON TURNER

No player holds a bigger place in the hearts of Hoosiers everywhere than Landon Turner. The All-American out of Arsenal Tech oozed with potential but constantly found himself in Coach Knight’s doghouse, finally putting it all together his junior year to help lead IU to the 1981 National Title. Expectations for Turner’s final season skyrocketed, and many predicted he was destined to be a top pick in the NBA Draft. And then tragedy struck. A car accident left him paralyzed from the waist down and a brilliant basketball career was over in an instant. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, Turner soon found new meaning in his life, and began to spread that meaning to all he touched. Now, almost 40 years later, his message of love, joy, determination and belief is more important and more powerful than ever. The Hoosier Hysterics! - RAY TOLBERT

Raised in Anderson with a mother in the ministry, perhaps a higher power intervened to send Mr. Basketball & McDonald’s All-American Ray Tolbert to Bloomington. Whatever it was certainly saved him from that hellhole in West Lafayette, and for that we all feel blessed. Not only was Ray one of the most consistent starters, scorers and rebounders in IU history, he was also an all-timer when it came to monster dunks. Playing alongside the likes of Woody, Zeke, Landon, and Wittman, this Hoosier Hall of Famer won a NIT title, a Pan-American gold medal, two Big Ten crowns, and the 1981 National Championship. And to that we say hallelujah!! See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Hoosier Hysterics! - LILLY KING

Lilly King could have swam for any school in the country, but the Evansville prodigy chose to stay close to home and attend IU. Lucky for us, as she went on to dominate her opponents and destroy the NCAA record books, becoming a 4 x All-American and one of the greatest collegiate swimmers of all-time. Along the way, Lilly won two gold medals at the Olympics in Rio, got Tweeted at by Samuel L. Jackson, and swam the the 50m and 100m breaststroke faster than any woman in the recorded history of the world. Confident, funny and a total bad ass, Lilly King is everything you want in a Hoosier hero, and she isn't even close to being done. Hoosier Hysterics! - ADEWALE OGUNLEYE

A Nigerian prince, born in Brooklyn and raised on Staten Island, travels to Bloomington and becomes the greatest defender in the history of Indiana University football. No, this isn’t our pitch for the Coming to America sequel… it’s the incredible real-life story of Adewale Ogunleye. And like any hero’s journey, it isn’t all rose petals and royal baths. “Wale” battled homesickness, saw his beloved mentor Coach Mallory fired, and after foregoing the NFL Draft, suffered a devastating knee-injury his senior year. Yet these trials and tribulations served only to make him stronger. Our leading man sallied forth to become a Pro Bowl sack master with the Miami Dolphins, then signed a record-breaking contract with the Chicago Bears on his way to playing in the Super Bowl. Adewale Ogunleye is truly the stuff of Hoosier legend. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Hoosier Hysterics! - ANTWAAN RANDLE EL

We here at the Hysterics never dabble in hyperbole, so when we tell you Antwaan Randle El is the single greatest athlete to ever attend Indiana University, it’s merely stating cold, hard facts. This man was not only drafted by the Chicago Cubs out of high school, he also played basketball for Bobby Knight. Additionally, he was one of the most thrilling players college football has ever seen, delighting Hoosiers everywhere as he rewrote the record books and revolutionized the quarterback position. Antwaan did some other things, too, like playing a decade in the NFL, where he became a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion. The simple fact is, he's a freaking legend. Hoosier Hysterics! - MIKE WOODSON

If you're in high school and hold your own playing pick-up games with George McGinnis in his prime, there’s a good chance you’ve got a future in basketball. And boy did Mike Woodson ever. Heading to Bloomington with his jump shot in tow, Woody became one of the great scorers in Hoosier history. He joined Coach Knight and teammate Isiah Thomas to win a gold at the Pan American games, and later took down Purdue to claim the NIT crown. Topping it all off in his senior year, Woody miraculously returned from midseason back surgery and led his team to a Big Ten title, and was named conference MVP having only played SIX GAMES. That’s just ridiculous. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Hoosier Hysterics! - COACH TERI MOREN

Teri Moren was born in a small town, and she had herself a ball in a small town. A basketball to be specific, and the town was Seymour, where Johnny Cougar was on eternal rotation and Bobby Knight’s Hoosiers were required family viewing. Tragically, she lost her way and went to play for the school that shall not be mentioned, only to find the ultimate redemption… becoming head coach of IU Women’s Basketball and beating that damn school 5 out of the last 6 times. In doing so, Coach Moren has led her program to unprecedented heights, including 4-straight 20-win seasons, reaching as high as #12 in national rankings, multiple trips to March Madness and an unforgettable WNIT Championship in front of a packed & raucous Assembly Hall. The Hoosier Hysterics! - ANTHONY THOMPSON

There is no better way to bask in the glow a historic win over Penn State than to spend 3 hours with the greatest IU football player of all-time, Anthony Thompson. After shunning the likes of Michigan and Ohio State, AT joined forces with Bill Mallory to defeat those very powerhouses and usher in the most successful era Indiana football has ever known. He rewrote not only the record books in Bloomington, but for all of collegiate football, on his way to being a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, two-time All-American, winner of numerous national player of the year awards, and ultimately an inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame. Hoosier Hysterics! - ANDRAE PATTERSON

Andrae Patterson is not just a gentle giant, he is a thoughtful, funny, warm and reflective giant. The high school phenom from Abilene, Texas had his pick of any school in the country and chose IU after his mother orchestrated a surprise visit to Coach Knight. Once there he embraced a career of highs… say a 39-point virtuoso performance to thump Duke in the pre-season NIT… and one of lows, including injury, early exits from the NCAA tourney, and the abrupt departure of key teammates. Through it all his passion and commitment won the day, leading first to a long career as a professional player and now as the Director of Basketball Administration for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
