A standalone Bill allowing for the use of facial recognition technology by An Garda Síochána will be brought forward later in the year.
It’s as Cabinet today approved legislation allowing body-worn cameras for gardaí, and the force will immediately begin procuring the devices, albeit without the ability to use facial recognition.
