Episode 3 of the “Can’t Stay Like This” Lent series leading to Easter

If your sins are forgiven… why do you still feel stuck?

In Step 3 of Pastor James’ Can’t Stay Like This series, we confront one of the enemy’s strongest weapons against believers: shame. Shame keeps us focused on our past instead of living in the freedom Jesus already secured for us.

But Jesus doesn’t define you by what you’ve done.

He defines you by what He’s done.

Episode Summary

Many Christians know they are forgiven but still struggle to feel free. That’s because shame works differently than guilt. Guilt points to what we did wrong — shame tries to convince us that we are wrong.

Through the story of the woman healed by touching Jesus’ cloak in Mark 5, we see how Jesus doesn’t just remove our problems — He restores our identity. When He called her “daughter,” He replaced shame with belonging.

In this devotional episode, we explore how shame distorts our identity, how conviction differs from condemnation, and how freedom begins when we claim the name Jesus gives us instead of the labels from our past.

You don’t have to fight for freedom.

You get to live from freedom.

Today’s Challenge

Pay attention to the voice in your head today.

When shame says:

“This is who you are.”

Answer with truth:

“That’s what I did. That’s not who I am.”

Claim the name Jesus gives you:

Child of God.

Because you don’t have to fight for acceptance anymore.

You already belong.

Thanks for listening today. And remember—stand firm and walk humbly with the Lord. That’s the Hall way. 🎙️✝️
