Show Notes
Very honored to have Nephi Craig on our podcast! Mr. Craig is a White Mountain Apache/Navajo executive chef, is the founder of the Native American Culinary Association, a network of Native cooks, chefs, scholars, farmers, and community members devoted to the development and preservation of Native American foodways.
Mr. Craig works in combating substance abuse and addiction in his hometown of Whiteriver on the White Mountain Apache Tribe in Arizona. I see my work as treating the inter-generational impact and symptoms of historical trauma and colonialism that manifest as "addictions" in our people. Practicing the principles of what I call "Indigenous Trauma-informed Care". I teach, cook, lead and learn.
Nephi also opened Café Gozhóó, a Western Apache Cafe, Market, and Learning Center located in our ancestral homelands on the White Mountain Apache Tribe in Northeastern Arizona. Café Gozhóó cultivates Indigenous skills and health through Apache food-ways and Ancestral Intelligence.
Thank you for listening.
