Show Notes

Blockbuster has continued to be one of the most cited cases of a business literally at the top of its game... only to fade into nonexistence in the following decade. Everyone loves to use Blockbuster as their example of "What not to do" in business... But what really happened to Blockbuster? How did they miss it and eventually fail?

Alan Payne joins the podcast as one of the former final franchise owners of a Blockbuster store, giving a rare insight into the largest cracks in the foundations of Blockbuster, as well as some of the counter-cultural decisions he made on his own to keep his store afloat.
