S4 Ep 403Goddess Talks: Hekate, Light in the Darkness with Sorita D'Este

In this episode of Goddess Talks, part of The Goddess Project Podcast, I sit down with author and researcher Sorita d’Este for a thoughtful and engaging conversation on the goddess Hekate. Together, we explore some of the most common misconceptions surrounding Hekate, the current trends shaping how she is understood today, and what it means to approach her through both historical research and modern spiritual practice. We also touch on the sacred site of Lagina in Turkey, one of the most important ancient centres of Hekate worship. This is a conversation that moves between scholarship, lived experience, and the evolving presence of the goddess in the modern world. About Sorita d’Este: Sorita d’Este is an author, researcher, and international lecturer specializing in magic, mythology, and the study of ancient deities, with a particular focus on Hekate. S4 Ep 402Mistress of Animals: The Dangerous Goddess Before Artemis

The Mistress of Animals is one of the oldest and most powerful divine images in the ancient world. Long before classical Artemis, a goddess stood between lions, deer, and wild creatures, commanding them without weapon or apology. In this episode, we trace the Mistress of Animals across Mesopotamia, Anatolia, Crete, Greece, and the wider Mediterranean. From Inanna and Cybele to early Archaic Greek reliefs, this is the deeper story behind the goddess of the wild. This is not the softened “nature goddess” version. This is the original framework of female sovereignty over wilderness, danger, and survival. If Artemis has ever felt older or more powerful than the version you were taught, this episode will change how you see her. Topics Covered • What “Mistress of Animals” really means • The Bronze Age origins of the motif • Inanna and lion imagery • Anatolian rock relief goddesses • Artemis Agrotera and wild land • Why modern museums mislabel her • How this ancient grammar of power survives into Greek religion 🌿 Join the Mistress of Animals Course If this episode sparks something in you, we begin a full six week deep dive inside the Mistress of Animals course at the Artemis Research Center. 🗓 February 21 – March 22 🕰 12–2 pm EST / 5–7 pm UK / 9–11 am PST 📍 Live on Zoom This is a six week live seminar exploring: • Primary texts and inscriptions • Bronze Age seal stones and reliefs • Near Eastern parallels • Greek cult and epithets • Sanctuary geography and ritual • The transition into Artemis Two options are available: ✔ Live participation with discussion and Q&A ✔ Recording access only This is not a survey course. It is a structured, evidence based investigation of one of the most enduring and misunderstood goddess traditions in the ancient Mediterranean. S3 Ep 304The Last Woman Standing: Misogyny in Museums & Reclaiming the Goddess

History is written by the victors… but what happens when it erases the divine feminine? In this episode of The Goddess Project, we expose how misogyny in museum curation has shaped the interpretation of the Assyrian nude statue (BM 124963), housed at the ⁨@britishmuseum⁩ Originally commissioned by King Ashur-bel-kala (1073–1056 BCE), this unique artifact has been labeled as an object of mockery, but is that really the full story? Could this statue represent Ishtar the powerful Mesopotamian goddess of love, war, and divine femininity rather than a figure of humiliation? Join us as we challenge the patriarchal lens that has distorted history and reclaim the true legacy of ancient goddesses. Topics Covered in This Episode: - The Assyrian nude statue & its controversial museum interpretation - Zainab Bahrani’s feminist analysis of female representation in Mesopotamian art - Eroticism, power, and divinity in Mesopotamian culture - Colleen Heslin’s powerful open letter challenging the British Museum’s framing of the statue, read it here: https://colleenheslin.com/project_pages/2016_LastWoman.html - How Western academia has erased the strength of ancient goddesses Sacred Steps: Exploring Artemis’ Lost Temples – A Fundraiser for The Artemis Mapping Project Join me, on a three-part online lecture series as we journey through Artemis’ lost sanctuaries, uncovering their mythology, rituals, and historical significance through exclusive on-site footage, archaeological research, and ancient texts. S2 Ep 219Cretan Goddesses: The Last of the Holy Trinity

In this episode we delve into the fascinating world of Cretan goddesses, focusing on Diktynna, Britomartis, and Artemis. These deities offer a rich tapestry of mythology and history that spans from the ancient Minoan civilization to classical Greek times. Diktynna, often associated with Britomartis, was a revered goddess of mountains and hunting in Crete, worshipped since the Minoan era (circa 2000-1450 BCE). Known for her escape from King Minos by leaping into the sea, Britomartis was transformed into a goddess by Artemis, symbolizing freedom and protection. As we explore the connections between these goddesses, we see how Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt, absorbed many attributes of her Cretan counterparts. The Temple of Aphaia on Aegina, dating back to the 5th century BCE, stands as a significant archaeological site that highlights these links. This temple showcases the syncretism between local deities and the Olympian pantheon, with Aphaia embodying aspects of both Artemis and Britomartis/Diktynna. Join us as we uncover the fluid and intertwined identities of these powerful goddesses and their enduring legacy in ancient Greek religion. #CretanGoddesses #Mythology #AncientHistory #Archaeology #MinoanCivilization #GreekMythology #Diktynna #Britomartis #Artemis #TempleOfAphaia▶️SUPPORT THE GODDESS PROJECT PODCAST!PATREON ▶️ / goddessproject📖 GET MY BOOK! ▶️ https://www.amazon.com/She-Who-Hunts-...▶️ABOUT THE BOOK: She Who Hunts by Dr. Carla Ionescu SHE WHO HUNTS explores the ancient Greek Goddess Artemis through myths, history, legends, and folklore, with vivid and detailed archeological and historical evidence showing that rather than just a simple "maiden" Goddess or "virgin in the woods", ARTEMIS was one of the most prevalent and influential goddesses of the Mediterranean, playing a fundamental role in the communal, political and ritual development of the Greco-Roman world. S2 Ep 208Ancient Maenads - The Last of the Wild Women

#greekmythology #maenad #dionysus Maenads were the "raving" wild women of the Ancient Greek and Roman world. Or were they? So much that has been shared about the ecstatic rites of Dionysius was written by ancient male authors who never witnessed theses 'savage' festivals of wild women for themselves. So much of what we know about the Bacchants of the wine god was written as backlash in response to women leaving their homes to 'rave in the woods' with wine, and dancing and (perhaps) raw flesh they consumed in their intoxication with the God. #hornedgoddess #deergoddess #shahziasikander Inspired by the 'Satanic" accusations of Shahzia Sikander's gold horned goddess exhibition in NYC titled "Now" this episode dives into the history of ram gods and deer goddesses. How did these nature divinities become associated with Satan and devil worship? How were horn gods and antler goddess perceived in the past and why did they loose their wild and benevolent natures? Join me, and lets talk about all the ways we have been robbed of a lush and powerful history all the while indoctrinated with fears of demons, witchcraft and all the things that go bump in the night.▶️ TAKE A GODDESS COURSE WITH ME! ▶️ https://artemisexpert.disco.co GET MY BOOK! ▶️ https://www.amazon.com/She-Who-Hunts-... ▶️ABOUT THE BOOK: She Who Hunts by Dr. S1 Ep 120Persephone - Queen of the Underworld

#persephone #greekmythology #queenoftheunderworld One of the most powerful divinities of the ancient world, Persephone is the queen of darkness and light. So fierce was her rule that the ancients refused to say her name out loud, and referred to her only as 'maiden' or 'mistress'. She ruled the souls of the dead and returned each spring to bring life. Abducted by Hades, and rescued by her Titan mother, Persephone is a goddess of survival and evolution. Through her the ancients were able to navigate the cold and torturous lands of Tartarus (the death chambers). She was the only light in the darkness, the saviour that offered salvation, the shelter from the storm. S1 Ep 117Fortuna - May The Odds Be Ever in Your Favour

#fortune #luckfavoursthebrave How much of our lives is left to chance? When life got tough, or when things went supremely well, the Romans turned to their favourite goddess Fortuna to praise, or blame, for their fortunes. Her power over abundance, fate and the rise and fall of empires large and small was unchallenged. She was the gatekeeper of random failure and success, and as such, the most powerful deity of all. #aphrodite Why is beauty so frightening? Join in me looking at how Aphrodite defied all ancient gender norms and expectations of domesticity. A wife and mother unlike any other, the goddess of love and sex feared no one and let no one trap her in the expectations of her gender. While Aphrodite is most commonly known as Venus in the modern world, little is ever discussed about her tragic love affair with Ares, her forced marriage to Hephaestus and her celebrated coupling with Hermes. And that's before we get to her children! Mother of divine and mortal children, Aphrodite is a symbol of all aspects of the divine feminine, from fertility to fierceness. Her protection for those who honour her is all encompassing, her vengeance for those who cross her is swift and fatal. Dr. Ionescu’s work is a labour of love and research, born out of her long-standing certainty that Artemis was the most prevalent and influential goddess of the Mediterranean. ▶️COME JOIN ME! ______________________________________________________ WEBSITE: https://artemisresearchcentre.com/ NEWSLETTER: https://artemisresearchcentre.com/new... ▶️FOLLOW ▶️ Let's Get Social! ___________________________________________TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thegoddessproj4 INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/goddessproj... S1 Ep 105The Womb of the Earth - Exploring the Symbolism of Caves

#wombwisdom What is it about caves that have held us in metaphysical awe for more than 70,000 years? Why is it that every major spiritual leader in history, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed, has found revelation and resurrection in caves? We enter a different realm when we descend into caves, and our discovery of self in darkness is only made more significant as we make our ascent back to the 'real' world. Join me in this informal talk about the human experience of the natural womb, and why caves continue to be places of reflection and divine vibration.▶️ TAKE A GODDESS COURSE WITH ME! ▶️ https://artemisexpert.disco.co GET MY BOOK! ▶️ https://www.amazon.com/She-Who-Hunts-... ▶️ABOUT THE BOOK: She Who Hunts by Dr.
