Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the Georgia Weather Podcast for Tuesday, February 24th.
Folks, February woke up with teeth this morning. Twenty three degrees overnight. The kind of cold that makes your car seat feel like a block of ice. But that sun is doing serious work right now.. And the afternoon is shaping up nicely.
Let's cruise through the state.
Metro Atlanta, you're climbing from 37 degrees around 11 AM to a pleasant 53 degrees by 4 PM. Northwest winds shift westerly around noon. Gusts hit 15 miles an hour near 10 AM, so hold onto that coffee. Tonight turns mostly cloudy. Low near 39.
Slide down to the coast. Savannah and Brunswick start at 40 degrees around 1 AM, then warm to 56 degrees by 11 AM. Same wind shift at noon. Partly cloudy tonight with a low near 39. Not bad at all.
Over in Augusta, you're seeing sunshine all day. High of 54 degrees around 5 PM. Winds swing from southwest to south near 8 PM. Partly cloudy overnight, dropping to 38 by 1 AM.
Now two quick alerts. Northeast Georgia, humidity drops to around 20 percent this afternoon. That's dangerously dry. Check with local authorities before any outdoor burning. And southeast Georgia, a Frost Advisory runs from 2 AM to 8 AM Wednesday. Temps dipping to 32 degrees. Cover those sensitive plants tonight.
Looking ahead, Wednesday warms into the low to mid 60s. Enjoy that.. Because Thursday and Friday a cold front rolls in with widespread rain and a few thunderstorms. You could see an inch to an inch and a half of rainfall. Then the weekend clears out beautifully. Saturday near 67 degrees. Sunday pushing 72. That sounds like patio weather to me.
Oh. And we're gaining over two minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 7:13, sunset at 6:30. Spring is tiptoeing closer.
If this podcast helps you plan your week, a quick rating means the world.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
