Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the Georgia Weather Podcast for Wednesday, February 25th.
Folks, grab that heavy jacket for the commute.. Then stuff it in your backseat by lunch. Georgia's pulling a 36 degrees temperature swing on us today. You'll start shivering. You'll end in short sleeves.
Right now, 42 degrees under clear skies. Metro Atlanta dips to 38 around 5 A.M. That southwest wind at 11 miles an hour makes it feel like 31. The kind of cold that sneaks through your collar.
Over in Savannah, you're bottoming out at 38 degrees around 6 A.M. Feels like 33 with that breeze off the water. But here's where it gets fun. By 4 P.M. you're hitting 67 degrees. Winds shift from southwest to south around 6 P.M. tonight.
Eastern Georgia runs the same playbook. Low of 37 around 5 A.M., feeling like 32. Then 67 by 4 P.M. Winds swing from south to southwest around 9 A.M. as warm air floods in.
Quick note for lake lovers. A Lake Wind Advisory kicks in from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. east of Atlanta. Gusts could punch 35 miles an hour on open water. Not the day to test your balance on a kayak.
Tonight, clouds roll in. Atlanta stays mild near 54 degrees. Rain starts creeping in after 1 A.M.
Thursday is the soggy one. Rain is likely statewide. Atlanta tops out near 65. Coastal Georgia pushes 71 with thunderstorms possible Thursday night into Friday. Then the weekend delivers. High pressure slides in with sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 70s. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Spring equinox is just three weeks out.
I'll be tracking that Thursday rain all night. You'll want to keep an umbrella in the car starting tonight.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
