Good evening. Georgia. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside and you might think we skipped a month. We're sitting at 73 degrees right now under mainly clear skies. That's about 56 degrees warmer than usual for early March. And we're just getting started.
In the next 24 hours. Metro Atlanta wakes up to 56 degrees this morning, but we're climbing fast. You'll hit 79 this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Tonight brings partly cloudy skies with a low around 56. Tomorrow? We push right toward 80 degrees.
Down along the coast. Savannah and Brunswick are sitting at 58 degrees. Watch for areas of fog developing after 10 tonight. It lingers through the early morning commute, then burns off by mid-morning. Highs Thursday reach a pleasant 77.
Eastern Georgia wakes up to 57 degrees. You'll see widespread fog before 9 A.M. Thursday. After that, partly sunny skies bring the warmest readings in the state. Highs near 81 degrees, pushing to 84 by Friday.
Heads up if you're near the Ogeechee River at Midville. A Flood Warning remains in effect until Thursday morning. Minor flooding is occurring in Burke. Emanuel. And Jenkins counties. Some access roads are underwater, so avoid those low-lying areas near the river.
This warmth is locked in. Highs stay in the upper 70s to low 80s through early next week. That's roughly 56 degrees to 56 degrees above normal. We stay dry through Friday. Then scattered showers and thunderstorms return for the weekend, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours.
Tonight's full moon rises at sunset. With clear skies early, it'll be a good one to catch. We're also gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Spring equinox sits just two weeks away.
If you enjoy the summer preview, grab your sunglasses. You'll need them.
