Good evening. Georgia. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside right now and you might think we skipped straight into May. We're sitting at a gorgeous 77 degrees under full sunshine, it's the kind of afternoon that makes you forget winter ever happened. But here's the thing: don't get too comfortable, this is a classic Georgia spring swing. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight today, so you've plenty of time to enjoy the warmth before the bottom falls out.
As the sun sets. Tonight stays mostly clear as a warm front lifts. North, while metro Atlanta and Eastern Georgia will dip to around 50 degrees. Down along the coast? You stay milder, right around 59.
Sunday starts deceptively pleasant. Atlanta hits 73 degrees, while Eastern Georgia warms all the way to 80. But keep an eye on the clock, you'll see a slight chance of showers between noon and 2 P.M. The coast sees the real action later, with thunderstorms peaking around 8 P.M.
Then comes Monday. A strong cold front pushes through, bringing likely rain and thunderstorms, highs range from 57 in Atlanta to 77 on the coast. But the real story is what happens behind that front, here comes a temperature crash. Lows Monday night plummet to 28 in Atlanta and the low 30s elsewhere.
That sets up a chilly Tuesday. You'll only reach 46 degrees in the city—about 30 degrees colder than Sunday. The good news? The rebound is fast, wednesday climbs back to 55 degrees. By Thursday and Friday, we're back in the upper 60s and 70s with sunshine.
Looking ahead. You'll want to keep that heavy jacket handy for Tuesday morning, that's a shock to the system after a weekend like this.
See you tomorrow.
