Show Notes
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Georgia Weather Podcast. It's Sunday, February 22nd, and folks, that rain from overnight? It was just the warm up act. The real show starts now.
A cold front just bulldozed through the state. It brought wind that means business. We're talking gusts up to 40 miles an hour. That's enough to send your recycling bin on a solo adventure down the street. Wind advisories are up statewide. And with the ground still soaked from last night's rain, tree roots aren't gripping like they should. Secure anything loose outside before you finish that coffee.
Now let's talk about what you're walking into. Down in Metro Atlanta, sunshine looks inviting but don't be fooled. You'll top out around 47 degrees near noon. Then the bottom falls out. By 5 A.M. Monday, you're at 26 degrees. Wind chill? A face stinging 25 degrees. That's cover your pipes and bring in the pets cold.
Slide east toward Savannah and the coast. Rain hangs on until about 8 A.M. You'll touch 63 degrees by 25 degrees, but that's your peak. Tonight drops to 34 by 4 A.M., feeling like 24. A freeze warning kicks in Tuesday morning when temps hit 28 degrees. Gardeners, you'll want to protect those tender plants tonight.
Over in eastern Georgia, a few sprinkles near 5 A.M., then sun takes over. You hit 56 degrees by 11 A.M. Before crashing to 30 by Monday morning. Northwest gusts to 22 miles an hour make it feel like 20.
Here's your week ahead. Monday and Tuesday stay cold. Highs barely crack the 40s with widespread 20s at dawn. Then Wednesday delivers a plot twist. Highs jump to the mid 60s. Enjoy it, because Thursday brings rain. Possibly three quarters of an inch. By Saturday? Near 70 degrees with sunshine.
One bright note. Sunset tonight is 6:29 P.M. We're gaining daylight fast.
Alright. If you're enjoying these daily updates, share us with a neighbor who hates weather surprises.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
