Show Notes

Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Georgia Weather Podcast. It's Sunday, February 22nd. And winter just kicked the door in. Folks, if you stepped outside this morning expecting that mild stretch to continue, the wind probably changed your mind real quick. A cold front barreled through overnight. And now we've got northwest gusts hitting 40 miles an hour across most of the state. Wind Advisories are up statewide through this evening. These gusts are snapping limbs, especially where yesterday's rain left the ground soft. Secure your trash cans. Check your patio furniture. If you're driving anything tall, grip that wheel tight. Now the temperatures. This is where it stings. Down along the coast near Savannah, you're topping out around 57 degrees near noon. Sounds decent until you watch it nosedive to 33 by early Monday morning. Factor in those winds and it'll feel like 23. Slide over to eastern Georgia and you're hitting 55 around 11 A.M. Then crashing to 30 by 5 A.M. Monday. Wind chill drops that to 20. Metro Atlanta? You've got the rough end of this one. High of just 46 degrees around noon, then a freefall to 25 by 7 A.M. Monday. Wind chill makes it feel like 25 degrees. That's the kind of cold that catches pipes off guard. Let those faucets drip tonight. Here's what the week looks like. Monday stays raw and blustery. Highs barely scratch the low 40s in Atlanta, upper 40s at the coast. Then Tuesday the whole script flips. Mid 50s inland, near 60 along the coast. By Wednesday you're looking at 60s statewide with that springlike warmth rolling back in. A few showers could sneak in late week, but nothing dramatic. Tonight, toss an extra blanket on the bed. Your future self will appreciate it around 3 A.M. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
