What is the deal with the collapse of the Christian bookstore business? While other brick and mortar bookstores have lost 20% of their business, Christian bookstores fell off by 75% since the 1990s. We provide several reasons why Christian bookstores are failing. People are just leaving the faith and churches. What are they leaving? There is a lack of gravitas and seriousness about the faith. We distinguish between the schlocky, disposable books and those books that are worth keeping in your library. Compare Robert Schuller’s books to Martin Lloyd-Jones’ books.
