Gary discusses the state of the world—politically, culturally, socially—and how "bad" things appear to be. He notes that every generation before us had their own similar view, not everything was sunshine and roses. The "good old days" are a myth. But even though things seem to be bad at this moment in time, good things are happening, and the cracks in the veneer are beginning to show.
