Finish this sequence: 1, 2.8, 8, 22... Why do new photographers have to learn this stuff? More than one internet pundit has challenged the numbering systems behind photography recently. Here are two examples: 1, 2. Here at TFOP, we think they are all wrong. It's not about simplifying the current systems but more about creative decisions and mood and outcomes. So we propose a non-scientific approach based on what you see - shallow/deep, bright/dark, wide/close and let the equipment figure out the maths. What could be simpler than that?
