Wednesday marked Day 27 of the retrial of Karen Read. Last week, special prosecutor Hank Brennan rested the state's case, leaving it now to the defense. On Tuesday, defense attorney Robert Alessi requested a mistrial with prejudice, though it was later denied by Judge Beverly Cannone.
