Not necessarily harder, but definitely more complicated. Remember social media is just one element of a marketing strategy. I encourage you to consider six components. Strategy: Have steps or a plan of what you want social media to accomplish for your business. Content Creation: I find a content calendar helpful in visualizing how to put my strategy into practice. Management: Some folks like to create in real time but it's convenient to use tools to schedule your content ahead of time. Community is key. Consider the conversations you would have at a coffee shop or checkout counter. Bring that energy to your social media. Show that you understand there are people on the other side of the screen and not just customers. Leverage: Use tools like ads, collaborations, giveaways, and tagging to grow your audience. Legacy: Social media is always changing. Consider what legacy content you have to share. For a brick-and-mortar shop, using social media to direct people to shop in person is your legacy. Social media can direct people to your email list, your course, or your online shop. Focus on legacy content to weather whatever changes social media has in store.
