Good morning. Florida. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Florida is turning up the heat this weekend. We're flirting with record highs. And honestly, it feels more like late April than early March. Step outside and you'll feel that summer warmth creeping back in.
Let's take a tour of the state. Down in South Florida, you're starting at 66 degrees under partly cloudy skies. That overnight low was a dream. Today, you'll hit 80 degrees with steady east winds around 14 miles an hour. That breeze off the Atlantic keeps you comfortable, but don't get burned — the UV index is a 7. Slather on the sunscreen if you're heading to the beach. Tonight holds at a balmy 74 degrees.
Moving into Central Florida. Orlando and the I54 degrees corridor are the hot spots today. Here comes 85 degrees. There's a a chance of showers between 1 and 5 PM, so keep an eye on the sky. Winds are light out of the southeast around 7 miles an hour. Tonight dips to 65 — perfect weather for evening plans. Just watch for patchy fog trying to sneak in after 4 AM tomorrow.
Over in Tampa Bay. Here comes 88 degrees. That's the hot spot on the map. A slight chance of showers arrives after 4 PM, but most of the day stays sunny. Winds stay light out of the east-southeast. Tonight cools to 67 under partly cloudy skies. It's great weather for a sunset walk, but rip currents are a risk along the coast.
Up in North Florida. Jacksonville starts with patchy fog that burns off by 9 AM. Then the sunshine takes over and highs reach 82 degrees. Tonight stays mild at 64.
Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. We stay dry and hot through Wednesday, with highs in the 80s statewide. Thursday brings a reality check — a cold front pushes through with scattered showers and thunderstorms. By Friday, we're back to the upper 70s.
Enjoy the taste of summer while it lasts. See you tomorrow.
See you this afternoon.
