Show Notes
Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz.
Folks, you felt it today. That heavy, sticky air clinging to everything. There's a reason for it. A cold front is draped across the state right now. and it's in no hurry to leave. Think of it as a house guest who showed up with luggage. and no departure date.
In the next 24 hours. The front is stalling. That means rounds of showers and thunderstorms tonight and right through Saturday. Some of these storms mean business. We're talking gusty winds up to 50 miles an hour, frequent lightning. and small hail. The kind of afternoon where your car alarm goes off and you just shrug.
So where's the action? North Florida got hit first. Jacksonville topped out at 69 degrees today with showers already rolling through. Tonight, lows drop to 50 degrees as the front parks itself overhead. Saturday, the rain finally tapers and cooler, drier air sneaks in behind it.
Slide south to Tampa Bay. You hit 77 degrees today with scattered storms. Tonight stays unsettled with lows near 60 degrees. Saturday morning brings lingering showers before skies start to clear.
Orlando sits right in the bullseye. 76 degrees this afternoon, but the storms are the real headline. Rain continues tonight with lows around 59 degrees. Saturday afternoon? Another round fires up when the sea breeze collides with that stalled front.
Down in Miami, you dodged the worst of it early. 83 degrees with some sunshine. but storms creep in after midnight tonight. Lows stay balmy near 67 degrees.
Statewide, expect half an inch to an inch of rain. Welcome news for drought conditions, but not nearly enough to fix things.
Now the good stuff. Sunday, high pressure muscles in. Skies clear. Temperatures climb back into the upper 70s and low 80s. Early next week stays warm and mostly sunny with just a few coastal showers each afternoon. Smooth sailing through Thursday.
If you're catching storms tonight, keep your phone charged and stay off the roads during the heaviest downpours.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
