November 5, 2022: The season opener is here as Michigan State hosts the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks from the Big Sky conference. Last year, NAU was 9-23 overall and 5-15 for a last place finish in conference play. They finished ranked 340 in KenPom where they didn't do anything very well on either side of the ball. Michigan State will look to get things set right before the gauntlet of games against multiple top 25 teams beginning on Friday against Gonzaga. There is some intrigue with this game whether Akins plays, can MSU return to its roots and rebound better, and will this be an opportunity for Steven Izzo to record his first collegiate points?
