Show Notes

For the first 20 years of her career, Haz Burbidge-Smith was an avid BMX rider – winning multiple world and Australian Championships, with her focus set on fulfilling her Olympic dream.

But then she discovered her true passion – Mountain Bike Riding - and hasn’t looked back since.

But in 2024, Haz suffered what she thought was a broken hand, which later turned out to be a broken hand, neck and wrist. Lucky to be where she is, Haz has since been on an incredible journey to get back on the bike and return to the competitive slopestyle scene.

Haz opens up about choosing a sport for fulfilment rather than societal expectations, learning to embrace her fear to take on gnarly tricks, and her emotional journey back on the bike just 6 MONTHS after surgery. This weekend, Haz will compete in Crankworx Christchurch as a wildcard, out to show herself and her fellow riders why she deserves a spot on tour. We hope you enjoy this episode.
