Growing up, Desi Miller was well acquainted with the gym floor and the dance studio, having spent her younger years as a representative gymnast who even performed at Disneyland threes time. But when COVID hit in 2021, Desifresh out of high school, decided to take up Rugby Union and hasn’t looked back since. Within three years of picking up a footy for the first time, Desi has gone on to play for the NSW Waratahs and debut for Australia as Wallaroo Number 204. And now she’s representing Team Rugby Union on RIVALS, to help settle the debate over which Australian sporting code reigns supreme. When Rugby League player Jaime Chapman was growing up, she didn’t have any NRLW players to look up to. In fact, her dad helped her make her own Sevens team full of young girls, just so she could keep playing footy. Fast forward to 2020, and Jaime made her NRLW debut with the Dragons and hasn’t looked back since. Chappo's gone on to play in two NRLW grand-finals, represent the Indigenous All-Stars and make 8 state of Origin appearances, including in 2024 when she scored THAT 85m solo try. With 70 Caps and 35 International Goals to her name, Sarah Walsh is one of the most formidable Matildas to ever play football for Australia. Sitting 5th on the All-time Matildas’ goal-scorers list, Walshy was as much of a weapon off the field as she was on it. Serving as a long-time member of the Professional Footballers Association and playing a pivotal role in helping the Tillies secure their first Collective Bargaining Agreement back in 2010. In that same year, she also lifted the Asian Cup and now, 16 years later, is working as Chief Operations Officer at the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup as the Tillies try to lift that iconic piece of silverware once again. learning to 'do it til you're comfy' with mountain bike rider haz burbidge-smith
For the first 20 years of her career, Haz Burbidge-Smith was an avid BMX rider – winning multiple world and Australian Championships, with her focus set on fulfilling her Olympic dream. But then she discovered her true passion – Mountain Bike Riding - and hasn’t looked back since. But in 2024, Haz suffered what she thought was a broken hand, which later turned out to be a broken hand, neck and wrist. Lucky to be where she is, Haz has since been on an incredible journey to get back on the bike and return to the competitive slopestyle scene. Haz opens up about choosing a sport for fulfilment rather than societal expectations, learning to embrace her fear to take on gnarly tricks, and her emotional journey back on the bike just 6 MONTHS after surgery. This weekend, Haz will compete in Crankworx Christchurch as a wildcard, out to show herself and her fellow riders why she deserves a spot on tour.
