Show Notes
(00:00 – 22:41) – The broadcast opens up with some discussion about the Monday Night Football game between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. The Broncos traveled to Seattle for Russel Wilson’s first game against his former team. Query touches on his surprise at the reaction Wilson got when taking the field. Talk then turns to the Manning Cast and how they appeared to be in pre-season form in their first game of the season. Jake talks about how Peyton Manning may harbor a small bit of resentment to Indianapolis for his departure from the Colts. The show then questions how paternity leave works.
(22:42 – 26:51) – Morning Checkdown
(26:52 – 42:00) – We come back from break and speculate on Colts Head Coach Frank Reich’s comments on Rodrigo Blankenship in his press conference yesterday. This topic lights up the phone lines as callers start to pour in and give their take on Blankenship’s place on this Colts squad.
(42:01 – 1:08:54) – Blankenship talk continues with more callers who want to voice their opinion on his performance in Sunday’s game. The conversation seems to focus more on Blankenship’s confidence and who is responsible for rattling it. Himself, the media, the team, the coach? Then the show takes up the topic of next weeks game against Jacksonville and if the Colts can get over the hurdle that their loss to the Jaguars last year poses to them.
(1:08:55 – 1:29:34) – Joel Erickson, the Indianapolis Star Colts reporter joins the show to talk about The Colts game in Houston, their upcoming game in Jacksonville, and is asked to touch base on the Blankenship debate. Erickson believes there is a legitimate chance that the Colts hold tryouts for a new kicker. He is asked about Irsay’s reaction to the tie in Houston. Then Marc asks if Erickson has any information on Shaquille Leonard’s return to the field. Were/are people being too soft on Matt Ryan?
(1:29:35 – 1:58:23) – Hour three kicks off with Marc posing the question to Jake as to whether or not Frank Reich is hurting Blankenship’s confidence by only having him kick high-pressure field goals. Query thinks that at the end of the day any kicker in the NFL should be ready for game winners regardless of confidence level. As people continue to call in, Jake plays a game of “Get To Know Your Listener” with some of them. The last caller before the Morning Checkdown equates Blankenship to Tiny Tim.
(1:58:24 – 2:06:14) – Pop Quiz
(2:06:15 – 2:16:44) – The show concludes with a question about the Muppets and if Kermit The Frog were to leave the Muppets who would be the Vice President of The Muppets. Marc believes it would be Gonzo while Jake says it is “undoubtedly” Fozzie Bear. Jake ponders a fan question about whether or not the Colts could do an open tryout to try and find a new kicker.
