劍橋大學植物園表示已經放棄治療，因為早在它被風吹倒前就已經被疑似一種「蜂蜜真菌」侵襲。
劍橋大學已經準備在「案發現場」原地再種一棵新的「牛頓蘋果樹」分靈體。
