2025 年的諾貝爾化學獎頒給了日本京都大學的北川進（Susumu Kitagawa）、澳洲墨爾本大學的理查・羅布森（Richard Robson）與美國加州大學柏克萊分校的奧瑪・亞吉（Omar M. Yaghi）三位科學家，理由是他們開創出一類全新的「分子建材」，名為「金屬有機框架」（Metal–Organic Frameworks，簡稱 MOF）。
