候鳥不需要Google Map，能跨越大陸與海洋，正確抵達數千公里外的棲息地；即使看似弱不禁風的蝴蝶，也具有飛越大西洋，從西非抵達南美洲壯舉的能力；鮭魚能從大海中回到河川，逆流而上回到出生地。
這些現象背後的關鍵，可能是動物對地球磁場的「磁感知力」（magnetoreception）。
