- Ahmed Masoud, award-winning Palestinian and British writer from Gaza, living in London. Ahmed is the author of the novels Vanished and The Shroud Maker. His family is originally from the Palestinian village of Deir Snade, and he grew up in Gaza.
- Yousef Aljamal, a Palestinian writer whose family was ethnically cleansed from the town of Aqer, near Lydd, in 1948. Yousef grew up in Gaza’s Nusairat refugee camp, where his family remains.
