Ep 1 Preview - BIPOC Education Matters
In this preview of our full episode being released later this week, I sit down with Sandra Lamouche First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Success Coordinator for Livingstone Range School Division for a socially distant conversation about indigenous education. In this first section, Sandra shares her story as an indigenous student in the 90s and 00s, and juxtaposes this experience with an anecdote about her son and schooling today. In our full interview to be released in a couple days, we reflect on Alberta's Teacher Quality Standard (TQS), the areas that specifically pertain to incorporating indigenous culture, language, and epistemologies in education, and its implications for teachers and all students. Thank you for listening, and enjoy!
