Insights from the Astral Blizzard: Session 228
Grab a cozy blanket and maybe a warm drink, because we are diving into a session recorded while a massive blizzard was howling outside the window in Elmira, New York. This is a breakdown of Session 228 of The Early Sessions Book 5 of the Seth Material, recorded on January 31, 1966.
This session is a wild ride through cosmic meteorology, psychic shoe-shopping, and how to hack your own creativity. This briefing is part of a podcast series distributed free of charge on all major platforms for educational purposes.
The Weather: You’re Making It Happen
Forget what the meteorologists tell you. Seth basically says that if you don't like the weather, you might want to check your own "psychic atmosphere." Here’s the lowdown on why it’s snowing:
- Self-Generating Storms: Weather isn’t just some random physical occurrence. It’s a constant "give and take" between psychic and chemical components.
- The Balancing Act: Think of a storm as a pressure valve. According to Seth, "The force originates within the psychic or nonphysical aspects of each living creature within your system. This force acts as a balancing mechanism for the psychic structures."
- Chemical Spills: Just like dreams help us process chemical excesses in the body, physical weather is caused by "an abundance of chemical energy" that the individual organism can’t handle on its own.
- Collective Vents: A big blizzard is a "collective endeavor." When humanity gets a bit too emotionally "stormy," that energy has to go somewhere. Usually, it’s turned outward into the environment as a constructive (though sometimes disastrous) outlet.
The "Instream" Mystery: The Case of the Dark Shoe
In the middle of the blizzard, Jane (Ruburt) went into a trance to do a psychic test regarding a "Dr. Instream." Seth started picking up some very specific, if slightly random, vibes:
- The Object: A man’s shoe or slipper. It was dark brown—so dark it looked black—and had laces.
- The Origin Story: It was purchased at a shop on a side street near a main street (starting with a C or G) on a rainy day in April.
- The Harvard Connection: Seth mentioned the name "Harvard" was somehow connected, possibly to the brand of the oxfords.
- The Flamingo: In one of the more "bizarre" moments of the night, Seth picked up a connection between the doctor and a flamingo. No, we don't know why either, but it's a mood.
Creativity Hacks: How to Write 63 Poems in a Weekend
If you've been procrastinating on your art, Seth has some notes for you. He pointed out that Jane recently managed to write 63 poems in about 18 hours. How? She didn't just use her ego; she integrated "portions of the self that contain more abilities."
- Integration is Key: Jane’s ego started reflecting her "whole personality," which allowed her to use an abundance of energy without meeting any inner resistance.
- The Power of Suggestion: Jane didn’t specifically ask for a book of poetry. She just gave herself a suggestion to have an "abundance of energy" and to focus it on her writing. The inner self did the rest of the heavy lifting.
- Efficiency Gains: Seth claimed that using this procedure would allow a person to do "ten times as well in the available time as is usual."
